Scientists Crack Open Cosmic Mystery: Is Our Solar System's Local Hot Bubble Part of an Interstellar Network? Imagine looking out into space and realizing that our solar system isn’t floating in isolation, but potentially linked to a vast cosmic network. This might not be as far-fetched as it sounds. Recently, scientists using the eROSITA X-ray telescope have uncovered evidence that could reshape how we understand our galactic neighborhood. The instrument, designed to scan the universe in X-ray wavelengths, has detected what might be an “interstellar tunnel” stretching in the direction of the Centaurus constellation. This discovery opens up the possibility that our solar system’s Local Hot Bubble (LHB) is part of an interconnected “web” of cosmic structures known as superbubbles.
