President of India, Ram Nath Kovind appoints Anusuiya Uikey as Governor of Chhattisgarh & Biswa Bhusan Harichandan as Governor of Andhra Pradesh
16 July appointed Anusuiya Uikey as Governor of Chhattisgarh and Biswa Bhusan Harichandan as Governor of Andhra Pradesh.
The files of their appointment were cleared by President Ram Nath Kovind after which a formal order was issued by the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Uikey will be succeeding Anandiben Patel who has been the Governor of Chhattisgarh since 2018. Patel is also the current Governor of Madhya Pradesh. She was the first woman chief minister of Gujarat.
In his early 80's, Harichandan will be the 23rd Governor of Andhra Pradesh to succeed ESL Narasimhan, who had held the gubernatorial post in various states for last 13 years which includes 10 years in Andhra Pradesh
Harichandan is the former president of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee. He was elected to the 11th, 12th and 14th Odisha Legislative Assembly.
