A large container ship remains stuck in Egypt's Suez Canal, blocking other vessels from moving in both directions and sparking a traffic jam in one of the most important waterways in the world.

Egypt’s Suez Canal, one of the world’s most important trade routes, has been blocked by a giant container ship bringing its marine traffic to a halt. The container ship is still grounded as canal authorities work to refloat it.

The Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, follows up the rescue work and the floatation procedures of the giant container ship EVER GIVEN.The authority has reopened the canal's older channel to divert some traffic until the grounded ship can move again.
