Six People Shot in Brazen Attack in Williamsbridge, Bronx

On the evening of December 30, 2024, a shocking and brazen act of violence left six people injured in the Williamsbridge section of the Bronx, New York. The incident occurred just before 5 p.m. near White Plains Road, shaking the community and prompting a swift response from local authorities.

Among the victims were a 12-year-old girl, her 40-year-old mother, and four young men aged between 18 and 21. According to the NYPD, the attack was targeted, and investigators believe it was carried out with clear intent. Tragically, police revealed that the 40-year-old mother was used as a human shield by one of the intended targets, underscoring the callous nature of the perpetrators.

Police say the shooting was carried out by two suspects who remain at large. Witnesses described a chaotic scene as gunfire erupted in the busy neighborhood. All six victims were rushed to nearby hospitals and are expected to survive, though the incident has left a lasting mark on the community.

Authorities have yet to determine the motive behind the attack, but investigators are following leads to identify the suspects. Surveillance footage from the area is being reviewed, and the NYPD is asking anyone with information to come forward.

The incident has sparked outrage and concern among Williamsbridge residents, who are demanding increased safety measures and justice for the victims. “This type of violence cannot continue in our neighborhoods,” said one community member. “It’s heartbreaking to see innocent people, including a child, caught in such senseless acts.”

Local leaders have condemned the attack, calling for an end to gun violence in the Bronx. “We need more resources for law enforcement and stronger community engagement to prevent these tragedies,” said a representative from a local advocacy group.

The NYPD has launched an intensive investigation and is actively searching for the suspects. No arrests have been made as of yet, and police are urging the public to share any relevant information.

As the Williamsbridge community comes to terms with the violence, support services are being made available to residents. Community leaders have organized meetings to address safety concerns and to provide assistance to those affected by the tragedy.

The shooting serves as a grim reminder of the persistent gun violence plaguing parts of New York City. While the victims are expected to recover physically, the emotional scars on the neighborhood will take much longer to heal.

For anyone with information about the suspects or the motive behind this attack, the NYPD has asked that they contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
